Presentation Options
"You Write What You Know"
Objective: Enabling and empowering our students to be creative writers
Fiction to non-fiction, fantasy to historical, and everything in between, this interactive writing workshop helps students explore their passions, interests, and experiences and put them on paper. This presentation is great for intimate classroom settings. Korynn Freels will walk students step-by-step through the creative planning process, starting with inspiring activities to build the students' idea bank.
"Chasing Your Dream"
Objective: Encouraging students to pursue their dreams through education and experience
Kids are notorious for "dreaming big," but that doesn't mean they need to grow out of it! This presentation uses Korynn's personal experience of becoming a children's book author to encourage students to set and pursue their goals. Listeners will be encouraged to explore their passions and strengths and map out a plan to achieve their aspirations.
"Reading and Writing: Discovering YOU"
Objective: Helping students use reading and writing as tools for self-discovery
Relating to characters of a story can teach us something about ourselves. We are able to ask ourselves "What would I do in that situation?" or "How do I feel about that decision?" Make-believe worlds also inspire self-discovery: take J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter, for example. In the series, students are sorted into school 'houses' based on their passions and qualities. Readers are inspired to ask themselves, "If I attended Hogwarts, where would the Sorting Hat place me?" Likewise, creative writing enables students to dive deep into their own personal values and experiences. In this presentation, reading and writing serve as tools to help the young audience build confidence and self-awareness.
"Keep It Creative: The Importance of Creativity"
Objective: Reinforcing the idea that a creative outlet benefits holistic health
Some occupations allow creativity more than others, so it is important for students and adults alike to have a creative outlet! Creativity (writing, art, dance, etc.) connects us to others - it can be used to inspire, communicate, entertain, and express. Inspiration leads people to change and grow. Communication is the glue of human relationships. Entertainment creates shared bonds and memories, and expression makes tangible one's values and feelings. Whatever the motivation, creativity is a critical part of one's holistic health - relieving physical stress, exercising the mind, developing social connections, expressing emotions, and honoring spirituality.
Christian School Presentation: "Use Your Gifts"
Objective: Using our God-given talents to pursue our dreams and serve God
"God has shown you his grace in many different ways. So be good servants and use whatever gift he has given you in a way that will best serve each other" (1 Peter 4:10). God has given each of us unique passions and skills - Korynn Freels uses her passions to write for kids and serve as a Children & Youth Pastor. Korynn will enable students to pinpoint their strengths and brainstorm exciting ways in which they can use them to glorify God and serve one another. Building self-esteem, trusting in the Lord, and looking forward to a purposeful future are three goals of the "Use Your Gifts" presentation.
